Island Beach Monkeys' MiniBus on a Private Tour

About Island Beach Monkeys

Island Beach Monkeys was established in 2013 to offer an alternative to walking, driving, or taking the trolley. Modeled on similar services in St. Pete and Siesta Key, Island Beach Monkeys offers an Eco-friendly alternative to tourists and residents alike. In addition, Island Beach Monkeys offers an alternative for those without drivers' licenses, for folks with physical disabilities, and for visitors unfamiliar with our roadways.

The Island Trolley is a fantastic resource, however, it can be crowded, it does not always keep a regular schedule, and it stops running at a very early hour. Additionally, the trolley does not serve all parts of the island, and many folks have difficulty walking to and from the nearest trolley stop. Island Beach Monkeys addresses the trolley's limitations by providing an affordable alternative. Our regular transportation services are free, although we do encourage tipping our drivers for the services they perform. Our special event pricing is very reasonable as well.

Island Beach Monkeys also promotes Island Events and Island Businesses. We partner with Special Events Coordinators, local attraction operators, and restauranteurs. Our drivers can provide individuals with suggestions as to what to do, where to eat, etc. We offer advertising to carefully vetted businesses on both our carts and on our vehicles. We live, work, and play on Anna Maria Island, so we can help you live, work, and play here too.

We have recently expanded our fleet, to include Golf Carts, Mini-Buses, and SUVs. Because of this, we have expanded our transportation services to include most of Tampa Bay and Sarasota-Bradenton. We are no longer limited to transporting just on Anna Maria Island. We provide a great alternative to taxi-cabs when you need a ride to or from town.

About the Fleet

Island Beach Monkeys' Fleet

Currently, our fleet includes: one eight (8) passenger golf cart limousine, a karaoke-equipped Mini Bus, recognizable by its bright color scheme and lighted trim, a second mini-bus, and one SUV. All our vehicles have surfboard logos on the top. The Golf Cart Limo and the Mini Buses roam the Island on a daily basis, and can be summoned with a phone call or flagged down, like a traditional taxicab, when they pass you on the street.

All of our carts are low-clearance and/or accessible. This makes it easy for mobility-challenged people to board. We can accommodate passengers who use folding wheelchairs and can transfer to a seat. We can easily accommodate passengers who use crutches, canes, walkers, etc. Our drivers can assist passengers with disabilities with boarding and disembarking from our carts.

We have access to additional golf carts and vehicles on an as-needed basis. If your Special Event or party needs transportation for a large number of people, we can procure the vehicles and drivers your event requires. We have plans to continually expand our fleet as the demand for our services grows.

Our drivers keep an eye on the community while wandering the roadways as well. They watch for people and vehicles that may need assistance, and try to help in any way they can. If you're stuck with a flat tire, and you need to run it to the auto shop for a patch, we can take you both there. If we see you stranded on the shoulder, we will take you and your gas can to the gas station and back.

About the Crew

Roque Pastorius, Owner

Roque (photo)

Roque has been with Island Beach Monkeys since its inception. Initially, Roque joined the company as its first Driver and was instrumental in establishing the business as the BEST transportation alternative on Anna Maria Island. Frustrated by the direction the business was taking, and wanting to see this service reach its full potential, Roque purchased the business in 2014 and immediately expanded both the fleet and the scope of services. Roque brings with him a proven background in the transportation field, having started his professional career as a Certified Truck and Coach Tecnician. His mechanical expertise helps ensure the fleet is running at its best and experiences no "down time," due to mechanical issues. Roque also has a great background working with people, as well as an "insider's view" of the best places to eat and play on Anna Maria Island and the surrounding areas. Roque is a Holmes Beach resident. He is also an active member of the Anna Maria Chamber of Commerce.

Kathy Pastorius, Operations Manager

Kathy joined Island Beach Monkeys in late 2013, and was key in helping the business transition to new ownership. Now, Kathy is responsible to ensuring things run smoothly on a daily basis. Kathy manages all the behind-the-scenes operations at Island Beach Monkeys, as well as acting as the Office Coordinator and Dispatcher. She is the key liasion for all business services and manages the advertising contacts. You may hear Kathy's friendly voice when you call Island Beach Monkeys to schedule transportation or to arrange for a special event.

Island Beach Monkeys Drivers:

Island Beach Monkeys employs drivers on an as-needed basis. All of our drivers are carefully screened and chosen for their driving safety record, excellent people skills, professional attitudes, and knowledge of Island resources. Often, you will see Roque's smiling face behind the wheel.

If you pre-book transportation, Island Beach Monkey's can provide you with your drivers' photos, upon request. You may also check our Facebook Page to see photos of drivers currently assigned to daily runs.

I wish Island Beach Monkeys had been here when I lived on the Island!  It's a great service for those of us who don't have cars, and I love the fact it runs late-night!
